How The Village Tutor Started

Hey there! I'm Holly, the owner and teacher at The Village Tutor.

Let me share our story with you. The Village Tutor began as a small tutoring business in my neighborhood in South Africa. I studied law at the University of Pretoria, and in my passion for helping others learn, I started working at the University as a teaching assistant. assistant. Alongside my studies, I started tutoring local school children, which opened my eyes to a whole new career path unrelated to law.

Teaching English, and other subjects, became my side hustle as I completed my degrees. Then, in 2020, I took a break to explore my true passion. The timing was perfect because, as you know, the COVID-19 pandemic turned everyone into remote workers. This allowed me to expand my teaching beyond South Africa, reaching students worldwide.

With my TEFL certification, The Village Tutor flourished, serving students across Asia, Europe, South Africa, and South America. I've had the privilege of teaching over 40 private students and leading group classes.

I am proud to be a part of this industry. It's incredible to witness how learning opens doors and creates better opportunities for both children and adults. At The Village Tutor, we provide a safe space for students of all ages to learn, make mistakes, and grow without judgment.

I'm excited to continue this journey and help more individuals achieve their language learning goals.
